Known for blending sharp wit, heartbreak, and a deadpan delivery with a totally unique insincere sincerity, Jesse was once a teenage Voidoid with Richard Hell and half of the duo Sammy (Fire Records/Geffen Records), before releasing three critically acclaimed Laptop albums on Island Records/Universal.

Now, after two decades screen-saving and humming tunes in the living room, the Hartmans are doing a hard restart of Laptop with a major jolt.

In May, 2025 they released “Weirder” (mixed by Bowie producer Mario McNulty) which was crowned the “Hot One” on John Kennedy’s “X-Posure” (Radio X) and then went viral with over 4 million views on TikTok.

In June, they followed with their first two killer London shows, backed by a brilliant group of Gen-Z Brits, including sax, soul back ups and full percussion, recalling “Stop Making Sense”.

The second single, “Additional Animals”, arguably the most pop of the new batch, arrives August 8th, 2025. Numerous hits and videos will follow until their full-length album, “On This Planet”, a humorous and harrowing take on the just how weird life on Earth has become, drops Spring, 2026.
